      Founded by the Government of Malawi, Domasi College of Education is the largest teacher-training institution in the country and a centre of excellence in secondary education. Through its Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) platform, DCE provides flexible, inclusive, and high-quality teacher training aligned with national needs.

      About Our Digital Learning Environment

      At DCE, ODeL integrates online learning, printed materials, and periodic face-to-face sessions to deliver instruction that accommodates both aspiring and in-service teachers. With a dedicated Learning Management System, learners access course content, engage with instructors, and collaborate with peers from anywhere at any time.

      Our Programs

      Bachelor of Education in Natural and Applied Sciences

      A four-year ODeL programme designed to prepare educators in subjects like Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture, Computer Science, and Human Ecology. Subject combinations are tailored based on MSCE credits or equivalent.

      Bachelor of Education in Social Sciences

      This four-year degree enables the training of secondary school teachers in subject pairings such as History & Geography, History & Social Studies, Geography & Religious Studies, and others.

      Bachelor of Education in Language, Arts & Communication

      Ideal for those passionate about language and arts education. Options include English & Linguistics/African Languages, English & French, Creative Arts & English, and Performing Arts & English.

      Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

      Designed for graduates from non-education programs who are seeking to become teachers, this concise program focuses on pedagogy, curriculum development, and teaching best practices.

      Short Courses in Pedagogy

      Targeted training modules covering essential teaching skills such as classroom management, learner assessment, ICT integration, and lesson planning. DCE also offers professional development courses designed for institutions, NGOs, school clusters, or government departments depending on their needs. These flexible packages address specific needs like inclusive education, STEM teaching, learner-centred strategies and more.

      Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
